Quiet is a skill. I know I need to cultivate it in my son. Either his legs are moving or his mouth is running a mile a minute. His goal is to be the loudest all the time. He’s never realized that quiet is a good thing. Knowing what benefits come with quiet play or quiet time. What can we learn with quiet?

Letter Q
As a deeply introverted person, my favorite time is quiet time. Sometimes it’s early in the morning other times it’s late at night. Either way, it helps me recharge. Although my son is a deeply extroverted person, I know he needs peace and quiet too. Although, he’d never admit it.
He sneaks upstairs to his bed with a good book or his tablet. He needs a little alone time. Sometimes he slips away into his imagination with his legos or matchbox cars.
The letter Q is the seventeenth letter of the alphabet. Aiden picks quilt, quarter, and quest when he’s asked for a Q words.
A q sounds like qua.
Activities and ideas:
- Make a quilt square out of old shirts. Make it as simple or complex as you like.
- Make and write the old-fashioned way with a quill pen
- Create or go on a quest

Words that start with Q
Vocabulary words are a great place to start with your new reader. Open up the dictionary and look for some good Q words. Learning a few easy words, such as spelling words or just sight words will aid in the reading process. It’s much easier to read if you know what you’re reading.

As a homeschooling mom, I know one of the homeschool essentials is a good-quality printer with cheap ink. Make sure you look at the cost of the ink before you buy. The printer price isn’t the price to worry about. We have an old one we bought about 10 years ago. Totally worth it. It doesn’t even have to have both print cartilages to print.
