Legos are by far my favorite of my son’s toys. The things you can build are endless. You can letter on them and make words, make flags for geography, and build bridges, cars, and boats for science experiments. Legos can be used in almost every subject. And they’re just plain fun to play with.

Letter L
Legos are a toy passed down from my brothers and me to my son. Aiden has a ton of his own too. He builds everything from houses and to bridges, to cars and boats. He loves making believe with mini figs and building anything he can think of.
Our local library has a Lego club drop-in every Thursday during the school year. On the bad weather days that we don’t do co-op, we do Lego club. They display their creations which is pretty cool too.
I love how Legos make Aiden think. He might be digging through the bin and come up with something he wants to build because of one piece. From that piece, he creates his own creation and it’s completely like the ones that come with instructions. He has to think spacially, problem-solve, and creatively the whole time.
The letter L is the twelfth letter of the alphabet. Aiden picks lion, legos, and leap when he’s asked for a L words.
An L sounds like luh.
Activities and ideas:
- Look at leaves. Leaves are pretty interesting in every season. You’re looking at buds and young leaves in the spring. Strong green leaves and efficient sugar factories in the summer. Beautiful colors in the fall. And crunchy pollinator habitats in the winter.
- Get some friends together and play leapfrog
- Get out your bin of legos and build something.

As a homeschooling mom, I know one of the homeschool essentials is a good-quality printer with cheap ink. Make sure you look at the cost of the ink before you buy. The printer price isn’t the price to worry about. We have an old one we bought about 10 years ago. Totally worth it. It doesn’t even have to have both print cartilages to print.
