Pre-k is all about fun learning.  We’re trying to head towards reading.  There are so many benefits of reading. Reading makes learning so much easier.   Word building is something Aiden is obsessed with. He really wants to know how to make words.  To help him learn I decided to make him some puzzles to help him build words and I thought I’d share them with you.  Grab your Pre-K word builder freebie at the end of this post.

Pre-K word builder

I decided to make these ones within heart shapes since Valentine’s Day is coming.  He’s all about cutting things out so I let him do a few.

I wanted to make this easy and helpful so mostly 3 letter words.  Our endings are ED, AD, AT, and AN.

Once we get used to each of these words I hope to help him build stories so the words were picked to make that easier.

ED Words

For the ED endings, there aren’t a lot of 3 letter words.  I think it will be a better ending when we move to bigger words.  However, there are a few. I choice bed, red, led, wed, med, and Ted as my ED words.

AD Words

AD endings are pretty easy.  There should be plenty of harder ones too.  I liked sad, had, bad, dad, lad, and pad for the AD words.

AT Words

When it comes to AT words there are so many.  I feel like Bob books are full of them. With sat, mat, Pat, hat, fat, and cat I think we’re going to be good on AT words.

AN Words

Another easy one is the AN ending.  There are not too many consents that can’t start an AN word.  I went with man, ran, fan, pan, can, van, and tan for our AN words.

Word Building

We are having a lot of fun with these. He really liked cutting them out and sorting out the colors. When he put the pieces together we talked about each word and used it in a sentence. He made up a short story about his cat who sat on his hat on the mat.
