This last week’s post is a little late and probably not what was planned. I tried to do a nice craft for Valentine’s day but it was a lousy day and way too busy for anything too creative. There are a lots little things we like to use for Valentine’s day like hearts, roses, and teddy bears but I picked the ladybug. The ladybug doesn’t have to be just for Valentine’s day it works for the springtime. You have the chance to use my DIY ladybugs. The printables are available at the bottom of this post.

DIY Ladybugs
My son loves ladybugs so it seemed like a fun craft for him. We cut out construction paper, little ovals of red paper and glued a half circle of black paper on for a head. Then I let him draw with black crayons to add spots. Each one is a little different. You could use stickers or stamp pens or a hole punch too.
We also wound up just using strips of paper for the antennas. There are other ways like pipe cleaners or small popsicle sticks to make antennas.
This was a really easy craft that took no real time and gave my son something to do for Valentine’s day. He ran around passing them out yelling “Happy Valentine’s Day!” to everyone he could. He wanted to make everyone happy.
I loved that he was so much into it. We also hopped on Pinterest to find some nice printables to color. There were tons of hearts and teddy bears available for free so don’t forget to check out the other blogs out there.
Here’s the pattern to use if you don’t want to do the gluing or the one we used for our ladybugs:
