Sharing is caring!

Even though it’s been nice outside I’ve been sick the last couple of days so we’ve missed some of the good weather.  Now that I’m feeling better we spent a few hours outside today.  It sparked mine before Christmas free fall fun list.  I’m not a huge fan of the cold.  So before it starts snowing we need to spend as much time as we can outside.

Here are Six Free Fall Fun Ideas

  1. Jump in a pile of leaves.
  2. Climb a tree.
  3. Collect a few fall favorites.
  4. Bug hunt.
  5. A trip to the park.
  6. Ride bikes

Jump in a Pile of Leaves

I know you’ve probably been raking and bagging or mowing them into teeny tiny pieces but every toddler should spend at least one fall day jumping in and throwing some fall foliage.  The leaves just need to be raked into a big pile and must be attacked with a passion.

Climb a Tree

Tree climbing is a must before it gets too slippery.  It’s inherent to my son to get up a tree.  I could see it today when he tried to climb a huge trunk with nothing to grab and a long way up before he could.

Collecting Fall Favorites

There are leaves and nuts and seeds in abundance.  The perfect opportunity to teach about trees and plants.  Hello, science day!  They are also perfect for a little imagination for cooking or throwing or whatever your little can think of.  I ate a lot of imaginary soup.

Bug Hunt

A boy favorite.  We spent almost a whole hour chasing bugs.  One daddy long leg may never be the same. He was sent up and down the tree trunk over and over again until he managed to escape.

Trip to a Park

Before it gets too cold the park is still an option.  We love tudek park.  It’s a dog park connected with Penn State University.  There are horses, a flower garden, playground areas, and so much space to wander and explore.  If you’re hungry after here’s a vegan fall meal and a kid’s favorite healthy snack to try.

Ride Bikes

Get the bikes out and go for a ride. It’s fun to go riding through the leaves. Make a pile and watch them fly.
